Whenever we need to relate to people, a version of self enters the space. It is from the foundation of how we perceive our self that the ways we interact with others, form relationships, choose family, and build community develops. The self both changes and stays the same in interactions. Our idea of self effects how we connect and how we metabolize ourselves in relationship. It is necessary to get to know yourself a bit more simply to avoid the aspect of self that feels too big or falls into patterns and avoids change.
Building awareness on what makes up the self in any given moment is a tool to help answer the question, “Who Am I?” The reality is that we are ridiculously complex with various versions of self presenting to the world simultaneously. Depending on the conditions we are experiencing, the self changes. If we make ourself one conglomerate version of self all the time, we are too big to understand.
